Lilac Park- Pocket Park Herzeliya – Winner Municipal Design Competition

The city of Herzeliya has selected KSM entry to the Lilac Park Competition, 2010. The closed municipal competition between landscape architects was for the design of a 3.5 dunam (0.35 Hectare) mini park in the "Progressives" neighborhood of Herzeliya Pituach built in the 1960's - the period when the neighborhood was young. The small public open space on Lilac Street had become run down as the families in the area had grown older as one generation replaced another. The proposed design seeks to deal with feelings of nostalgia for times past, for youth and innocence. An existing broken fountain and sandstone wall takes on images of the 1960's. The park furniture and replanting, along with new paths and a community picnic area and tot's playground create a place where grandparents can bring a new generation to enjoy this vest-pocket park.
